Chief People Officer, Duolingo

Christine Raetsch is Duolingo's Chief People Officer, building the HR and people practices for the company behind the most downloaded education app worldwide. Duolingo's mission is to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. The company is best known for its popular language-learning platform, with over 500 million total learners.

Prior to joining Duolingo, Christine was a senior executive at Vanguard, where she spent the first 20 years of her career. Most recently she served as Vanguard's Global Head of Culture and Inclusion.

Christine received her MBA and MA from Villanova University. She currently serves on a number of non-profit boards, including the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and Innovate PGH. In what remains of her free time, she loves being outside - biking, running, and kayaking on all the great rivers in Pittsburgh. She recently got a pandemic puppy (Labradane) and is finding training a humbling experience.
