In the German rap scene, there are now several successful female players - at the top is 26-year-old Shirin David. With a solo album at No. 1 in the German charts, four solo No. 1 hits and 14 Top Ten hits, Shirin David (Barbara Schirin Davidavičius) has become the most successful German female rapper of all time. Her love for music showed at the age of four, when she started playing the piano, oboe and violin. She also completed vocal, dance and acting training at the Hamburg State Opera. Starting as a YouTuber, Shirin David first got a taste of the music industry in 2015 – in 2019 she released her first solo album. With her own fragrance brand at Douglas, iced tea brand (Dirtea) and her own music label Juicy Money Records, the German with Lithuanian and Peruvian roots has now also established herself as a businesswoman. Her new album "Bitches brauchen Rap" (Bitches Need Rap), which will be released on November 19, focuses strongly on female empowerment and thus brings a feminist touch to the still male-dominated world of German rap.
